Consultation has concluded

The City of Perth is pleased to advise that we are fixing a section of the popular pedestrian and cycle-path along the Swan River, from the Old Swan Brewery back to the city. Alternative routes have been implemented for pedestrians and cyclists heading in and out of the City through Mounts Bay Road. The rectification works will commence Monday, 20 March 2023 to Monday, 8 May 2023.

The Mounts Bay Road Shared Path has been completed and opened a week ahead of schedule, but please take care while using the path over the coming weeks while handrails are installed.

WORK SCHEDULE

Most of the works will be done at night to lessen the impact on road traffic throughout the day, however we do ask drivers to be mindful of changed traffic conditions for the duration of the works.

  • 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Day works commence, with no disruption to vehicle traffic on Mounts Bay Road)
  • 7:00 pm to 6:00 am (Night works commence, with the westbound kerb side lane closed to all traffic between 7pm and 6am during week nights)

PROJECT DETAILS

  • Fixing the shared path will keep pedestrians and cyclists safe.
  • Traffic and pedestrian management will be in place, with local access maintained at all times.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists will not be able to use the shared path to travel between Crawley and the city for six-weeks while the repair work is carried out.
  • You can still visit the Old Swan Brewery during this time via the shared path from Crawley. Please note: The contractor will use four parking bays on the east side of the Mounts Bay Road Car Park for the duration of works.
  • Cycling and pedestrian detour routes are available through and around Kings Park. They will add some time to the commute and we appreciate your understanding while we repair the shared path. The detour routes will be signposted for ease-of-use – see "Alternative Route Plan" under the 'Documents' tab.
