As part of the Perth City Deal and CBD Transport Plan, new protected bike lanes will be constructed along the length of Spring Street from Mounts Bay Road to Mount Street.
The new cycling connection will be instrumental in providing more active transport options for people to access the CBD from the western suburbs.
The project will also reduce traffic congestion on Spring Street by modifying the lane allocations at the Mounts Bay Road intersection.
This project aims to achieve the following outcomes:
People feel safer when walking and riding
Fewer physical and design barriers for people walking, riding and accessing public transportation
Better wayfinding and legibility
More inviting and healthy streets
More walking, riding, and public transport to, from and within the city
ROAD CLOSURES:
From the 3rd of June, road closures will be in place to facilitate the works. Vehicles will not be able to use Spring Street to access Mounts Bay Road or the Freeway. During the work week, the intersection will be reopened under traffic management for access.
Spring Street will have pedestrian access at all times via the existing footpaths which will remain open during the course of the works.
The closure dates are listed as follows,
Sat 24th of June 7am to Sun 25th of June 3pm
Sat 8th of July 7am to Sun 9th of July 3pm
Fri 14th of July 7pm to 2am
Sat 22nd of July 7am to Sun 23rd of July 3pm
As this project may affect pedestrian, cycle and vehicle traffic, construction updates relating to path and road closures will be provided on this page. To keep updated on this project click follow the project on the right hand side.
