Revitalising the City for a Vibrant Community: Building East Perth's Future Sport & Recreation Hub
Thank you to everyone who took part in the engagement process, including the survey, engagement sessions, community drop-in session, and through Engage Perth. Your input has been helpful in shaping the Masterplan.
We've received really positive feedback on the proposed East Perth Community Recreation and Sports Hub. Our analysis shows that we need more community facilities in the City of Perth, in addition to the aquatic facilities being built as part of the WACA Ground redevelopment. We want a new hub that's accessible to the entire community and improves the amenity and activity of the East Perth area.
Our plan involves consolidating various sports and community facilities to make the most efficient use of land and available resources, and combining this in a new urban precinct with a mix of uses.
This new precinct will take advantage of connections to some of our best new facilities and pathways and provide a place for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. It will also enhance the eastern gateway of the City, creating a vibrant new destination.
The City has undertaken extensive consultation with the community to help shape the precinct.
Engagement has included a community drop-in session, attended by around 100 community members and an online survey, completed by 70 respondents.
You told us you’d like the precinct to have a connection with the river, be developed in line with the existing neighbourhood and include a hub of community, sport and recreation uses.
We had intended to advertise the Masterplan this month, but the feedback received to date hasn’t given a clear direction about what sports should be included. To ensure we get this right, it is critical that we invest additional time to thoroughly explore and consider all options. To help us do this we have appointed an expert consultant to work with the City and the community
We'll be continuing the community consultation and focusing on sports for the Hub and project updates ongoing from July to December 2024.
Engage Perth is the best place to stay updated on the project's progress. We can't wait to share some really exciting updates with you soon! Subscribe on this page to keep informed.
