Consultation has concluded

Commencing Wednesday 7 September 2022, Horizon West will replace the irrigation system within Mardalup Park on behalf of the City of Perth. These works are scheduled to be completed by Friday 2 December 2022.

It has come to the City's attention that the Mardalup Park irrigation system has poor watering quality and does not meet the required industry benchmark of 85% distribution quality. The City will undertake works at the start of spring to ensure areas will re-establish quickly and will retain their high amenity value once completed. The replacement irrigation system has been designed to ensure all gardens and turf areas can be irrigated independently (hydrozoning), ensuring a high-level water efficiency.

We anticipate this project to take approximately six (6) weeks, subject to weather. The protection of the park and horticultural assets is paramount for this project. Therefore, if the ground conditions are not favourable for equipment movement, there may be short delays.

The works will involve the use of machinery which include a directional drill and excavators. Trenches will be opened daily to install the new pipework, backfill and turf replacement. Small areas of the park will be worked on at any one time to ensure there the community still have spaces for recreation.
