Kings Park (Kaarta Koomba) has been a place of great cultural significance to the Whadjuk Noongar people for thousands of years and holds a special place in all our hearts. In 1872 Governor Weld gazetted 175 ha on Mt Eliza as a Public Park and recreation ground.

This year we are celebrating 150 years since the park was gazetted and all the memories we have had together as a community. Many of us have had proposals or marriages in the park, brought now-adult children to the playgrounds when they were little, or remember fallen family members in the Honour Avenues. We’ve attended events and learned about our State and flora, leading many into careers in conservation and tourism.
