What is happening?

    The current playground at JH Abrahams Reserve is scheduled for renewal. As part of the renewal, the old playground will be removed and recycled and/or disposed of and a new nature-based playground will be installed. Existing features like the seating, BBQs and basketball court will be retained and protected.

    Who is replacing the playground?

    What will the new playground include?

    The new Playground will feature nature-based play elements:

    • Rock Scramble
    • Stone and Log Steppers 
    • Balance Logs 
    • Basket Swing
    • Flying Fox
    • Parkour
    • Basket Ball Court Refresh
    • Raise Platform Slide
    • Timber and Rope Climbing Platform
    • Bike Rack
    • Water Fountain
    • Native Trees and Planting 
    • Stacked stone seating

    Will the shade sails be replaced?

    Yes. The current alignment will be retained and new shade sails and posts will be installed. Existing trees will be protected during construction to ensure that the tree canopy is retained and six new native trees will be installed to provide additional long-term shade.

    Will there be universal access and accessible play elements?

    Yes, however, the playground provides limited accessible play opportunities. Access to the playground is via rubber softfall or over mulch. Access to picnic shelter, bike and scooter rack, water fountain and bin is via a concrete path. 

    Will the toilets get a refresh?

    No, changes to the toilets are not included in the playground renewal. The existing toilets will remain in situ.
