What’s been done to date?

In late 2024, we asked the community to share their thoughts on James Street—how they use it today, what they value, and what they’d like to see improved. The response was fantastic, and your ideas have helped shape the early vision for a better, greener and safer street. View the survey summary.

We’ve also completed a detailed study of the street’s current conditions, challenges and opportunities. This work, along with community feedback, has guided the development of a draft concept plan.

What’s happening now?

In May 2025, Council endorsed the draft concept plan for James Street. We’re now getting ready for the next exciting step—checking back in with the community.

From late June to the end of July 2025, we’ll be inviting you to review the draft design and share your thoughts. Your feedback will help us make sure the final plan truly reflects the needs and ideas of the people who live, work, visit and spend time on James Street.

What’s next?

Once this next round of consultation is complete, we’ll refine the plan and present it to Council for final approval. From there, we can move into the detailed design phase and start bringing this revitalised street to life.
