Why are we creating fenced off-lead dog parks?

We’ve noticed the growing demand for dog friendly places within cities. Fenced off-lead dog parks are becoming an important component of city liveability. They provide safe places where dogs can exercise and play.  Dog owners can also meet and interact with each other, helping to build a stronger sense of community.

The City has undertaken an investigation into suitable sites for fenced off-lead dog parks and consulted the community to guide future planning.

Where will the dog parks be located?

The following locations have been recommended based on the outcomes of the overall investigation and feedback received from community consultation:

    1. Modest expansion of existing dog park facility at Ozone Reserve, East Perth

    2. New fenced off-lead dog park at Railway Reserve, northern end of Jewell Lane, Claisebrook.

    When will work commence?

Detailed planning has been completed and work is expected to start on both sites in November 2022.

When will the dog parks be ready?

Both sites will be ready for the City’s dog community and visitors to use by early 2023.

Will I be impacted by the work?

The work is generally low impact and the City aims to minimise disruption to adjoining residents. There will be limited access to Ozone Reserve Dog Park when works are carried out. More information will be made available to the public should there be any temporary closure at existing Ozone Reserve Dog Park.
