NEW DOG PARKS COMING SOON

We appreciate your input into our Fenced Off-Lead Dog Park Survey in October 2021. Findings from the survey have informed the Fenced Off-Lead Dog Park Report which was approved at the Ordinary Council Meeting held 21 December 2021.

The report presents outcomes from the City's investigation of potential site locations for new dog parks. Two preferred sites have been identified which include supporting dog park facilities and indicative costings for implementation.

Detailed planning has been completed for both sites, please see the below site locations:

Fig: Fenced off-lead dog site locations

Site 1: OZONE RESERVE - modest expansion of existing dog park

Design features:

  • Proposed expansion will increase the existing area by nearly 50 percent (approx. 400m2)
  • Lighting for safety at night
  • Power connection point for special events
  • Ten new native trees and shaded seating (2 new benches)
  • Additional dog waste bag dispenser and signage to reinforce the importance of waste management by dog owners.

Site 2: RAILWAY RESERVE, northern end of Jewell Lane, Claisebrook

Design features:

  • The new dog park will be approx. 1100m2 in size
  • New fencing, double gated entry and maintenance access
  • Dog waste facilities i.e. bin and dog bags dispenser
  • Shaded seating (4 new benches)
  • Entry sign and signage to reinforce the importance of waste management by dog owners
  • New turf
  • Dog drinking station – Bring your own water (Please Note: There is a lack of water on this site, please ensure you provide water for your own dog upon attendance.)
  • Mural on existing retaining wall - subject to approval

Work is expected to commence on both sites in November 2022 and is scheduled for completion in early 2023.

Project Update:

The expansion of existing dog park facility at Ozone Reserve is now complete. We have extended the fence and planted more trees so the dog exercise area is not only bigger, but there is more shade to enjoy. We have also installed lighting so that your four-legged friends can have a run around after-hours.

The new fenced off-lead dog park, Victory Terrace Dog Park in Claisebrook, has now been completed. We look forward to welcoming your four legged friends.
