The City of Perth is pleased to announce a new, more eco-friendly transport alternative for Perth’s CBD and its surroundings. We have partnered with Neuron Mobility and Beam Mobility to trial a two-year e-scooter share scheme. The scheme started in March 2023.

E-scooter share schemes are growing globally, with multiple schemes already operating across Australia. After consultations with businesses, residents, visitors and other local governments, the City will trial an ESS.

E-SCOOTER SAFETY AND RULES

The City has worked closely with our e-scooter operators to ensure safety, connectivity and accessibility are front-of-mind. All e-scooters in the trial are fitted with technology to ensure the devices are ridden at appropriate speeds, kept within our local government boundary, and kept out of areas they aren’t allowed.

Riders must return all e-scooters to mandatory parking locations or the rider will continually be charged for use. No e-scooters will be allowed in the Murray or Hay Street malls and Forrest Place.
For a full list of rules to follow when riding an e-scooter in Perth visit the WA Government, Road Safety Commission website

COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS BENEFITS

As a City, we recognise that accessible, sustainable and cost-effective travel is essential for our businesses, residents and visitors. During the two-year trial period, the City will measure and evaluate the following community benefits:

• Community safety and connectivity

• Reduced parking and traffic congestion

• Links between significant City boundaries

• Impacts to existing local foot traffic
