Amendment No. 49 to City Planning Scheme No. 2 and Amendment No.6 to Local Planning Scheme No.26

The Scheme Amendments propose to change the land use permissibility for the Community and Cultural land use group and Community land use group from “P” preferred use to “C” contemplated in the relevant precincts under City Planning Scheme No. 2 (CSP2) and Local Planning Scheme No. 26 (LPS26).

The Scheme Amendments will enable a higher level of scrutiny of development applications, enabling the City to consider the matters set out under clause 67 of the Deemed Provisions, and provide the option for community consultation.

Project Update

The Consultation period concluded on 16 April 2023 and the amendment was approved by Council on 30 May 2023. The amendment was forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission and was considered by the Statutory Planning Committee at its meeting on 12 September 2023. The Minister for Planning determined to refused to approve the amendments into the City’s Planning Schemes.
