Temporary Relocation of Accredited Homeless Services to Wellington Square

The City of Perth launched the Accreditation of Homeless Services in the Public Realm on 12 December 2019 in which service providers were required to apply to deliver services in the public realm during a 12-month trial commencing on 18 February 2020 until 18 February 2021 at Moore St Perth.

The purpose of this accreditation is to coordinate services to remove duplication, improve resource efficiency and improve accessibility to services for people experiencing homelessness and the intended outcome of supporting to end their homelessness journey. The accreditation process is applicable to food services, donation services, medical services, assertive outreach services, laundry services, shower and amenity services and any additional support services associated with assisting those experiencing homelessness.

The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia will be commencing road works at the Moore Street service delivery site from Monday 14 September 2020. This will require services to be moved temporarily for a period of 6 weeks. As the Accreditation of Homeless Services in the Public Realm trial is already proving to be successful, the City of Perth will take this opportunity to install permanent infrastructure at Moore Street, including shelters. Completing this work now will avoid the need to disrupt and relocate services for a second time at the end of the trial in February 2021.

Services will be relocated to the Hill/Wittenoom Street area of Wellington Square, East Perth for 6 weeks commencing 14 September 2020, and will operate Monday – Friday 5pm to 8pm and Sunday 8am to 11am.
