The City of Perth has started upgrading the street lighting in Nedlands, which is currently owned and maintained by Western Power.

The planned program of works involves removing the existing Western Power ‘heritage look’ black aluminium street lights and replacing them with new City standard anodised aluminium street lights. Once replaced the City would then own and maintain the lighting.

The benefits of the new proposed street lights are:

• Increased lighting levels in-line with current Australian lighting standards

• Improved sustainability through energy efficient LED light fittings operated with smart lighting controls

• Renewing aging Western Power infrastructure (> 10 years old) with new, reliable City assets

• Regular maintenance and prompt repairs provided by the City electrical team

The City has recently upgraded a section of Park Road (between Winthrop Avenue and Hampden Road) with the new City street lights. It has been raised with the City that the neighbourhood would prefer to retain the current Western Power lights. This would include oversight continuing by Western Power, with no City involvement in the lighting of these streets.

We are now seeking your view and feedback on the below three options:

1. Retain the existing Western Power street lights in their current form (with maintenance by Western Power to continue).

2. Upgrade the existing Western Power street lights to new silver City standard street lights (that are owned, controlled and maintained by the City).

3. Upgrade the existing Western Power street lights to new black City standard street lights but in black (that are owned, controlled and maintained by the City).

Please provide your feedback by Midnight 14th of December
