Consultation has concluded

The City of Perth strives for an equal and inclusive City community, where diversity is encouraged and everyone is respected, welcomed, supported and treated equitably.

We are developing our next LGBTQIA+ Plan and are encouraging the community to join the conversation and help develop the plan.

Through our past plans, we have been recognised for best practice in LGBTQIA+ inclusion and support for the City and broader Perth community.

The City has achieved a lot with its current LGBTQIA+ Plan (2022 – 2024). Some of the notable highlights have been:

• The LGBTQIA+ Advisory Group comprising of external community members

• The City was awarded the 2023 IPAA Lotterywest Best Practice in LGBTI Inclusion

• The Citiplace Rest Centre (upper concourse, Wellington St train station) now has an all-gender bathroom with three toilet cubicles

• The City of Perth is one of the first Local Governments in Australia to offer Gender Affirmation Leave (four weeks of paid leave plus 48 weeks of unpaid leave)

• Drag story time at the City of Perth Library

• Community lease given to Pride WA (Northbridge Piazza, aka Pride Piazza)

• Rainbow signage installed on James Street at Pride Piazza

• Substantial financial support for Pride Month events

• Permanent rainbow flag displayed at Council House

• And much more!

We want to hear from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies about what the City is doing well, what we can improve on and any ideas you may have. You can let us know by dropping a pin on the map below at the location you want to comment on.

In addition to the above, the below in-person community engagement session is being held at the Northbridge Piazza (Pride WA HQ):

  • Tuesday 28 May from 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Book now to have your say on LGBTQIA+ initiatives in the City of Light.

Participants (online or in-person) are eligible to win one of two $250 Mastercard gift vouchers.
