What is Integrated Water Management?

Integrated water management is a holistic way of looking at the role and management of water within our cities to help determine what actions we need to undertake to become more water sensitive.

This includes water governance, community involvement, resource efficiency, infrastructure, ecological health and urban spaces.

Why is this important to the city?

Making our City a great place to live, work and play is important to the City of Perth. We are developing an Integrated Water Management Plan to guide the City’s approach to water management for the next five years to transition towards becoming a water sensitive city.

Our urban spaces are evolving due to an increase in population, it is the City's priority to plan, make changes and amend our urban planning for our future.

What is a water sensitive city?

We need to manage our water effectively to harness the potential of green open space and to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. Water sensitive cities are resilient, liveable, productive and sustainable. They recognise the value of water and the role it plays in providing us with multiple benefits and opportunities.

In the Perth and Peel region, the term 'Waterwise' is used to refer to a water sensitive city.

Do I have to complete the survey?

No, your participation is purely voluntary. However, your input is much appreciated by the City as it will help us determine our future community needs.

Why do you ask for my demographic information?

Demographic information will help us to better analyse the data presented and target our water management approach based on these factors.
