Local Heritage Survey 2021

Background

The City is conducting a review and update of our Local Heritage Survey. The Local Heritage Survey (previously known as the Municipal Heritage Inventory) is a guiding document outlining the heritage value of various historic places. The Local Heritage Survey does not form part of the City Planning Scheme, however it provides a thematic framework that identifies places of historical and cultural significance.

The nominated places will also be considered using the City’s thematic history. This divides the City’s history into industry standard themes which is useful to better understand the City’s story and how heritage places represent it. The places nominated through the Local Heritage Survey will help the City to fill the gaps in the thematic history matrix to more fully express the City’s stories. We have also created comprehensive FAQ's, which we encourage everyone to read prior to making a nomination.

As part of the review process, the City will be consulting with the community on the existing list, as well as calling for new nominations.

How can I find out more?

As part of our survey process, the City will be running a series of public engagement sessions specific to each of our neighbourhoods. By attending an engagement session, you'll have the opportunity to find out more and to ask questions directly to our panel of experts.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, each session has a maximum capacity of 30 guests. We ask that you please RSVP to the relevant session by clicking the blue links below to ensure we can reserve your seat. You will receive an email to confirm your RSVP, and we will also contact you via email or phone (if you have provided your phone number) should sessions be required to change or be cancel (due to a Covid-19 lock-down or not meeting minimum RSVP numbers, for example). The City of Perth Library Auditorium is accessible for people with diverse abilities, with universal accessible toilet facilities and a baby change table located within close proximity. There are also ample public transport and parking options nearby.

PLEASE NOTE: if we do not receive a minimum of 10 RSVP's for an individual session, the session may be cancelled. In this case, the City will offer individual booking times to ensure all questions can be answered. Updates will be posted to this page.
