Since 2011 the City of Perth, in collaboration with Main Roads WA, has introduced 40 km/h speed zones across Central Perth and Northbridge. Over the years, these zones have been expanded in response to community requests such as the recent traffic speed changes in Terrace Road.
Speed reductions offer multiple benefits, including improved road safety by reducing the severity of crashes, creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment, lowering noise pollution, and supporting placemaking by fostering vibrant, people-centric streets that encourage walking, cycling, and local business activity.
We would like your feedback on the proposal to expand the City’s existing 40 km/h speed zone areas. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and is open for comment from 31 March to 30 April 2025.
Your feedback will help the City develop an approach for future speed zone reductions.
A summary of what we heard from you will be available on Engage Perth once the survey closes.
