The East End Revitalisation Program aims to improve the environment, character and quality of the East End precinct through revitalisation of the streetscape in Hay, Pier and Irwin Streets. The program will support the creation of great streets; streets that are comfortable, safe and tree lined with plenty of invitations to stay.

Pier Street Catenary Installation

Essential reconstruction of the verges and catenary pole installation in Pier Street requires a temporary staged closure for approximately 10 days.

  • Pier Street (between Murray Street and Hay Street) will see staged closures from Thursday 27 January to Friday 4 February 2022, to facilitate the installation of the catenary poles and lighting.
  • A full road closure is expected from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 January 2022 to facilitate installation of the first pole on the corner of Hay and Pier Streets. This work will be undertaken in the early morning to enable local access to the IGA driveway (Seasons Hotel and IGA). Current Road Closures and Detour Map
  • Night works will be required for the installation of the Palco floodlights, which is anticipated to take three nights. Pier Street will be reopened once works have been completed.
