Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026 - 2031
The City of Perth strives for an equitable and inclusive community, where everyone is respected, welcomed, supported and enabled to participate fully.
We’re building on the success of our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2021-2025, to develop the next iteration, our Access and Inclusion Plan 2026 – 2031 – continuing our commitment to people with disability and expanding our focus to others who may face accessibility barriers.
Please see below questions for your input. Any information you wish to add would be appreciated!
Attached is a map of the City of Perth in case you wish to make comment about a particular location in the city. This does not have to relate to the questions but could be, for example, to add handrails, seating of whatever need to support your accessibility in public spaces.
Much has been achieved with the City of Perth’s current Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (2021 – 2025). Highlights have been:
• The ongoing Access and Inclusion Advisory Group comprising of people from the community who live with disability or from an organisation supporting people with disability
• The City has been recognised twice in the Most Accessible Communities WA Awards:
- In 2024 for the Boorloo Heritage Festival and 26 January (Australia Day) events
- In 2022 in the category of Leadership for the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Framework, Advisory Groups and EDI actions and programs
• Providing training to CBD hoteliers to upskill them in disability awareness, access and inclusion
• The library has trained staff to facilitate a book club for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• The Santa experience at Council House now includes ‘Sensitive Santa’ evenings with reduced lighting, sound and crowds for children with sensory sensitivities
• And much more!
