Public Art plays a vital role in helping shape and reflect Perth’s identity, people, and the unique character of our place. Adding colour and meaning to everyday spaces, building new experiences and responses. You will find works in outdoor public and private spaces, within foyers and the fabric of a building or peaking from laneways.

The City of Perth cares for a significant collection of more than 100 major contemporary and historic public art works located throughout the city’s precincts. There are more than 15 works entering the City’s collection in coming years including works at Boorloo Bridge, Elizabeth Quay, Wardang Gardens and as part of the ECU development.

The City of Perth Public Art Strategy has been in place since 2015. In 2024, the City reviewed the Strategy and commenced the development of the next Strategy as a framework for the future development, sustainability and interpretation of the Public Art collection.

With the City progressing the development of the Perth Capital City Plan, it is timely to consider how we step public art forward along with the evolving community of residents, visitors and businesses of Western Australia’s capital city.

Your voice, your feedback will contribute to the foundation of the new strategy. A draft public art strategy will be developed in 2026 and available for further comment at the draft stage.
