Consultation has concluded

In the June Council meeting, City of Perth Commissioners endorsed a motion to initiate a free parking trial in the neighbourhood precincts of Claisebrook, East Perth and West Perth. This will see existing one-hour fee payable bays converted to one-hour no fee payable bays.

The trials will be conducted in the neighbourhood precincts of Claisebrook (along Royal Street from Trafalgar Road to Fielder street), East Perth and West Perth. Royal Street in East Perth will be the first to have the trial and the designation of other areas for the trial will soon follow.

  • When will these be rolled out?

The Royal Street trial in Claisebrook will begin on Monday 15 July. The other precincts will follow suit in the coming months after preliminary learnings from the Royal Street roll out can be applied.

  • Why is the one-hour no fee trial being implemented?

The decision comes in response to the need to support high street retail precincts within City neighbourhoods and increase patronage and retail activity in the three areas. The trial aims to also improve community activation and safety perceptions.

  • How long will the one-hour no fee parking trials last?

The trials are to be conducted for periods of up to 12 months.

  • How do I know which bays have free parking?

Look for the signs which will state ‘no fee payable’. Specific ticket machines will also be covered with a link for further information.
